Sanatan Dharm Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya was established on April 1928 at Dohgi, Bangana, Una, Himachal Pradesh. Realizing the need of an educational institution for the development of higher education, Indian culture and Vedic System in the village and for the development of the basic Sanskrit-Hindi language of our civilization, the Pious citizens of Dohgi village formed the Sanatan Dharma Sabha and started a Sanskrit and Hindi Pathshala by donating their land. Developed in the foothills of Solasingi Range, the College has maintained an advanced position in the service of the Sanskrit.
Along with Hindi-Sanskrit Language, this institute has a place of reverence in the heart of all citizens for the elementary education of Jyotish and Karmakand. First of all this institution was affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh from 1966. The affiliation was transferred to Himachal University, Shimla from 1971. The institution continued to receive financial grant from Himachal Pradesh Government till 1993. As a result of continuous efforts of about 10 years Principal, Staff and late Sh. Thakur Ranjit Singh ji (former Member of parliament) with the co-operation of the members of Sanatan Dharma Sabha, the institution recognized as Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya under the scheme of financial assistance from Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi from 1st April 1993.
At present, it is being operated and funded by the Central Sanskrit University, Janakpuri, New Delhi-58. The Institution is managed by high level management Committee and governed by the rules laid down by Ministry of Education. Due to the quality education, discipline and excellent management of the institution, students from all the Districts of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are pursuing higher studies in this institution.
Long experienced and well qualified teachers and a library equipped with more than 10,000 books, this institution is undoubtedly making rapid strides in the field of an education by imparting Prak Shastri, Shastri and Acharya courses and maintained advanced position in the service of Sanskrit. Along with Traditional Subjects like Sanskrit Sahitya, Jyotish, Ved, Darshan, Vyakarana, Dharam shastra, Upnishad, Puranas, Students gets Degrees in Modern Subjects like English, Hindi, Environment Science, Social Science, Computers etc. This institution is on the path of progress, and hopefully the institution play a vital role in imparting educations to Students.
